Hannah Kate

poet, short story writer and editor based in Manchester

North Manchester FM: Hannah’s Bookshelf, Saturday 28 February, 2-4pm

Join me this Saturday at 2pm on North Manchester FM for Hannah’s Bookshelf. This week my guest will be the lovely Alrene Hughes.

Alrene grew up in Belfast, but she has lived all her adult life in Manchester. She taught English for twenty years and now writes full time. A founder member of the Manchester Irish Writers, she wrote poetry and short stories for many years before deciding that what she really wanted to do was write a novel.

She is a family saga/historical romance writer. Her WW2 trilogy РMartha’s Girls, The Golden Sisters, and A Song in My Heart Рis set in Belfast and focuses on the lives of one family as they experience the hardships, tragedy and romance of war time. She is currently writing a family saga set in WW2 Manchester.

I’ll be chatting to Alrene about her trilogy, and about writing in general. And, of course, she’ll be sharing her selections for this week’s Apocalypse Books.

Catch us on Saturday at 2pm on 106.6FM (if you’re in the North Manchester area) or listen online (if you’re further afield).
