Join me on Tuesday at 12 for another Helping of History on North Manchester FM. This week, I’ll be looking at some odd little stories that I’m calling ‘Miscellaneous Middleton’.
I’ve dipped into my folder of little curiosities that would never make the history books, but that are still interesting tales of times gone by. This week, I’m focusing on Middleton in the first half of the nineteenth century. I’ve got a couple of stories of impersonation and fraud (including one that feels like it’s straight out of an Arthur Conan Doyle story!), a spat between florists, and a sad story about funerals. It’s a quirky slice-of-life on this week’s show!
As well as these Miscellaneous Middleton stories, I’ll also be taking my usual look through Yesterday’s Papers on the show.
Catch the show on Tuesday at 12 on 106.6FM (if you’re in the North Manchester area) or listen online (if you’re further afield).
