North Manchester FM: A Helping of History, Tuesday 5 November, 12-2pm

Join me on Tuesday at 12 for another Helping of History on North Manchester FM. This week, we’re taking a little look at Cheetham Hill’s sporting history.

As it’s such a diverse and vibrant area, it should come as no surprise that Cheetham Hill has a fascinating history of varied sporting activities. Today’s show takes a look at some of the stories and memories associated with sports and Cheetham Hill. I’ll be talking about a couple of interesting venues (a UK first, and a Manchester first), some illuminating exhibits at the Manchester Jewish Museum relating to a particular pass-time, and a ‘sporting oasis’ that’s been going strong since 1847. Interested? Then get your pumps on, because it’s time for a bit of P.E.!

In addition to this week’s stories of Cheetham Hill’s sporting past (and present), I’ll also be taking my usual look through Yesterday’s Papers!

Catch the show on Tuesday at 12 on 106.6FM (if you’re in the North Manchester area) or listen online (if you’re further afield).
